なぜ全国から、しまだ病院へ？　VELYSトレーニングの現場から

当院は、膝の人工関節置換術に使用する手術支援ロボット（VELYS）の研修施設となっており、全国から医師、看護師、臨床工学技士がチームで研修に訪れます。今回は先日行われた研修の様子をレポートします。

先日、宮崎県にある医療法人社団嘉祥会 岡村病院の皆さんがトレーニングにお越しくださり、研修会を行いました。研修の合間には、明るい壁紙の前で、当院スタッフと岡村病院の皆さんが並び、とても和やかな雰囲気で記念撮影を行いました。

研修では、当院の佐竹医師から「KA（Kinematic Alignment）」という考え方について説明しました。これは患者さん一人ひとりの本来の膝の動きや角度を再現するアプローチです。岡村病院の皆さんにも深い関心を持っていただき、「今後の手術に取り入れてみたい」とお話しされていました。見学された看護師の皆さんからも、「正確な数値で進められるので手技がシンプルになる」「手術時間が短縮でき、患者さんの負担軽減につながる」といった声が寄せられました。患者さんと接する看護師さんの目線からも、ロボットの有用性をしっかり実感していただけたようです。

今回の研修で特に注目されたのが、当院のチーム医療のあり方です。当院では各専門職種が垣根を越えて協力する体制が整っており、整形外科分野では珍しく臨床工学技士が活躍しています。岡村病院の皆さんはこの点に大きな刺激を受けられたようで、臨床工学技士の導入について前向きに検討したいとお話しされていました。私たちが普段行っている取り組みが、他施設の参考になるのは大きな励みになります。

熱心にメモを取られる皆さんの姿を見て、私たちも最新の知識や技術を学び続けることの大切さを改めて実感しました。志を同じくする他施設の医療スタッフの皆さんとの交流は、手技や知識の習得だけでなく、チーム医療や自分たちが行っているケアの質を再確認する有意義な機会です。これからもトレーニングを通じてたくさんの施設と交流を続けていきたいと思います。

As a designated training facility for the VELYS robotic-assisted surgical system used in knee replacement surgeries, our hospital frequently welcomes multidisciplinary teams of doctors, nurses, and clinical engineers from across the country. Today, we would like to share a look behind the scenes of a recent training session.

Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting a medical team from Okamura Hospital (Kashokai Medical Corporation) in Miyazaki Prefecture for an observation and training visit. During a break, both teams gathered for a commemorative photo in front of a bright, welcoming wall in our facility, capturing the warm and collaborative atmosphere of the day.

During the session, Dr. Satake introduced the concept of Kinematic Alignment (KA)—an approach designed to reproduce the natural movement and alignment of each patient’s individual knee. The Okamura Hospital team showed a deep interest in this philosophy, noting that they are eager to incorporate it into their own future surgeries.We also received wonderful feedback from the visiting nurses, who pointed out that “having precise data simplifies surgical techniques,” and “it shortens operation time, which directly reduces the physical burden on patients.” It was highly rewarding to see the clinical benefits of the robot so clearly recognized from the perspective of the nursing staff who work closely with patients every day.

Interestingly, the cutting-edge technology wasn’t the only thing that caught our guests’ attention—they were particularly impressed by our approach to multidisciplinary team medicine. At our hospital, professionals from various fields collaborate seamlessly beyond their specific roles. Notably, clinical engineers (CE) play a highly active role in the operating room, a practice that is still relatively rare in the field of orthopedics.The team from Okamura Hospital was deeply inspired by this dynamic and mentioned they are actively considering integrating clinical engineers into their own surgical teams. Knowing that our daily practices can serve as a positive model for other institutions is incredibly encouraging for us.

Watching the visiting team take such diligent notes reminded us of the importance of continuously updating our own knowledge and skills. Engaging with like-minded medical professionals from other facilities is much more than just a chance to share technical expertise; it is a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the quality of our own patient care and teamwork. We look forward to continuing these valuable exchanges with many more medical institutions through our training programs in the future.
