鈴鹿8時間耐久ロードレース　第47大会　理学療法士帯同記

鈴鹿8耐が初めて開催されたのは、今から半世紀近く前の1978年（昭和53年）です。

• 誕生の背景: 当時はまだ世界耐久選手権の一戦ではなく、日本独自のイベントとしてスタートしました。しかし、初回から大きな注目を集め、第2回大会（1979年）からは世界耐久選手権の組み入れられ、国際的なビッグレースへと発展していきました。

• 空前のバイクブームと伝説のライダーたち: 1980年代のバイクブーム絶頂期には、大会期間中に10万人以上の観客が鈴鹿サーキットを埋め尽くしました。エディ・ローソン、ケニー・ロバーツといった世界GPのレジェンドライダーたちが参戦したほか、F1ドライバーとして知られるウイン・ピケやマイケル・シューマッハが参戦したことでも世界的な話題となりました。

• ホンダ、ヤマハ、カワサキ、スズキのプライドをかけた戦い: 国内メーカーにとって、鈴鹿8耐は「技術の誇り」をかけた一大決戦。ファクトリーチームによるガチンコ勝負は、いつの時代もファンの胸を熱くする名勝負を生み出してきました。

2026年7月3日～5日に開催された鈴鹿8時間耐久ロードレース第47大会に、当院の理学療法士の松井が津田一磨選手率いる「Team BabyFace Titanium Power」のケアサポートのため、トレーナー帯同してきました。

津田一磨選手のリハビリを担当することになり、その中で大会中のケアサポート依頼があり、今シーズンの全日本ロードレース選手権、鈴鹿8時間耐久ロードレースにトレーナー帯同することとなりました。

津田一磨選手は全日本ロードレース選手権でも国内最高峰のJSB1000に出場されており、1000ccのバイクでは時速300kmに迫るスピードで駆け抜けていくだけでなく、コーナーではバイクと身体を傾けて膝を地面に擦りながら走っています。さらに8時間耐久ロードレースでは3人のメンバーで約1時間おきに交代しつつ8時間走行します。津田一磨選手以外の井手翔太選手と岡本玲選手のケアは初めてのため、各選手に応じた対応が必要となりました。さらに今大会は大雨で非常に危険なコンディションであり、普段と異なる場所にも負担がかかったりするため、選手に話を聞きながらコンディションを調整していく必要があり、その点が普段よりも難しく感じました。

8時間耐久ロードレースは終了しましたが、全日本ロードレース選手権は今後も続いていきますので、今回の経験を活かし、津田一磨選手に対して、よりよいサポートができればと思っております。そして、津田一磨選手、Team BabyFaceの応援をよろしくお願いします。

【Introduction】

The Suzuka 8 Hours was first held nearly half a century ago, in 1978 (Showa 53).

Background of its Creation:

At the time, it was not yet a round of the World Endurance Championship, but started as a uniquely Japanese event. However, it attracted immense attention right from its inauguration, and starting with the 2nd event in 1979, it was incorporated into the World Endurance Championship, growing into a major international race.

The Unprecedented Motorcycle Boom and Legendary Riders:

During the height of the motorcycle boom in the 1980s, over 100,000 spectators filled the Suzuka Circuit throughout the event. Alongside World Grand Prix legends like Eddie Lawson and Kenny Roberts, it generated global buzz with the participation of renowned F1 drivers such as Nelson Piquet and Michael Schumacher.

A Battle of Pride for Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki:

For domestic manufacturers, the Suzuka 8 Hours is an ultimate showdown staked on “technological pride.” The fierce, no-holds-barred competition among factory teams has continuously delivered legendary battles that captivate fans across generations.

From July 3 to 5, 2026, our clinic’s physical therapist, Matsui, accompanied “Team BabyFace Titanium Power,” led by rider Kazuma Tsuda, at the 47th Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Road Race to provide dedicated care and conditioning support.

After taking charge of Kazuma Tsuda’s rehabilitation, I received a request to provide on-site care support during competitions. This led to my role as a team trainer accompanying him for this season’s All Japan Road Race Championship and the Suzuka 8 Hours Endurance Road Race.

Kazuma Tsuda competes in the JSB1000 class—the premier division of the All Japan Road Race Championship. Riding 1000cc motorcycles at speeds approaching 300 km/h, riders lean both the bike and their bodies through corners, scraping their knees against the asphalt. In the 8 Hours Endurance Road Race, a team of three riders alternates stints, riding continuously for 8 hours with each rider taking the helm roughly every hour. Since this was my first time providing care for Shota Ide and Rei Okamoto alongside Kazuma, I had to tailor my approach to each individual’s needs. Furthermore, this year’s race featured extremely hazardous conditions due to heavy rain, placing unusual physical stress on parts of the body not typically strained. Listening closely to the riders and adjusting their physical conditioning accordingly proved to be more challenging than usual.

While the 8 Hours Endurance Road Race has concluded, the All Japan Road Race Championship continues. Building on the experience gained this time, I hope to provide even better support to Kazuma Tsuda moving forward. We greatly appreciate your continued support for Kazuma Tsuda and Team BabyFace!
